The Maryland Terrapins had held Notre Dame's all-world receiver Michael Floyd in check early, but Floyd erupted in the second quarter to give Notre Dame a large lead. Floyd caught a 19-yard touchdown pass and the Fighting Irish now have a 17-0 lead with 8:29 to go in the second quarter at FedEx Field.
The throw was essentially a jump ball, which Floyd won easily over Trenton Hughes. It was the 35th of his career and seventh of the season. It also capped off a seven-play, 80-yard drive that saw the Fighting Irish gash the Terps' defense again, as they have all game. The Terps will need to make quite the comeback to win this one.
