Mike Green Injury Update: Capitals Defenseman Unlikely To Join Team On Road Trip

Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green will not join the team on their current road trip as he continues to suffer from a strained right groin muscle, according to The Washington Post's Katie Carrera.

After missing three weeks with a right ankle injury, Green returned Friday against the New Jersey Devils, but injured himself again after taking a hit from the Devils' Ryan Carter. Green has not played or skated since.

When asked if Green would join the Caps on their current three-game road trip, head coach Bruce Boudreau was blunt.

"I really doubt it," he said to reporters.

According to Carrera, Green has been taking part in off-ice workouts back at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington. The Caps are undefeated with Green in the lineup this season and his presence is definitely missed when he's not playing. Green only played in 49 games last season while suffering from head injuries.

Without Green, the Caps are traveling with six defensemen.
