After taking the lead in the third quarter, the Navy Midshipmen couldn't hold on and have up the lead to the San Jose State Spartans in the fourth quarter. Navy's last attempt to tie the game fell incomplete on a Kriss Proctor fourth down pass attempt. After that, the Spartans were able to just kill the clock for the hard fought win.
With the loss, the Mids will not become bowl eligible in 2011 and will end their season next week in the annual Army-Navy game without the chance to get to .500 on the season. Navy's offense was able to run for over 250 yards on the ground, but couldn't find their typical big plays in the passing game in the triple option. The Mids defense also couldn't seem to slow down Spartans quarterback Matt Faulkner as he threw for 345 yards on the day.
