BALLSTON, Va. - Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green skated before the start of practice once again Wednesday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, but said afterwards that he has no timetable for his return.
"Yeah, I'd like to be back tomorrow, but that's not going to happen," Green said. "It's just kind of a day-to-day thing. There's no set schedule. It's about me getting back into shape and making sure that I'm 100 percent healthy, if not 90 percent at least."
Green has yet to play since suffering a strained right groin November 11 against the New Jersey Devils. Coincidentally, that game was his first game back from a twisted right ankle that kept him out for about three weeks.
"Basically right now I'm just able to get out there and skate a little bit," Green said. "I'm not exerting myself too hard yet, but I'm progressing better each day. I've been out there skating and obviously stopping and starting. As far as game shape, with being explosive, I still have some strengthening to do. Who knows how long that'll take."
Without Green in the lineup, the Caps are 4-10-1.
