The Georgetown Hoyas taking on the American University Eagles is likely stealing much of the college hoops spotlight, at least Saturday afternoon, but the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore both have interesting matchups worthy of attention later in the day.
UMBC (1-8) will host the Rider Broncs (1-10) Saturday night at 7:00 PM at the Retriever Activity Center Arena. The game pits two teams who have struggled mightily to start the year, with Rider and UMBC each having just one victory a piece. Whereas Rider, off to their worst start since the 1943-44 season, is coming off a hard-fought 72-71 overtime loss to Princeton, UMBC lost by 13 last time out to previously winless Morgan State. The game can be heard on 107.7 FM The Bronc in Baltimore.
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (3-8) travels west to Colorado take on the Air Force Falcons (5-2) Saturday night, Tip is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET. The Hawks are coming off a 95-69 win over Mercy, but last time UMES played a Mountain West team they lost by 30 to Wyoming. Air Force has not played in a week, and will face Gonzaga next, so it is possible the Falcons will be flat and looking ahead, giving UMES a chance to steal a road win.
