Those Washington Capitals fans that have been waiting since July to see Semyon Varlamov play against his former team will have to wait longer.
Varlamov will not start in goal for the Colorado Avalanche tonight as Jean-Sebastien Giguere will play in his place, according to The Washington Post's Katie Carrera.
The Caps traded Varlamov to the Avalanche in July for two draft picks. He has a pedestrian 10-13-1 record with a 3.14 GAA and .896 SV%. Giguere is 4-4-0 with a 1.95 GAA and .923 SV%.
Varlamov started for Colorado Thursday in their 5-4 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The Avalanche held a 4-2 lead in the third period, but Varlamov allowed three goals on 11 shots as the Sharks came back to win.
Michal Neuvirth, Varlamov's former partner, will start for Washington.
