James Madison Vs. George Washington: Colonials Lose Sixth Straight, Falling 62-57 To Dukes

A career high 22 points from Dave Pellom was not enough on Thursday night as the George Washington Colonials lost their sixth straight game, falling 62-57 at home to the James Madison Dukes. The Colonials were downright awful on defense in the first half, giving up 44 points and taking a 20 point deficit into the locker room at halftime. But Pellom and company would battle back in a heated second half at the Smith Center, going on a 20-3 run to get within five.

Pellom's 22 points came on a perfect nine for nine from the floor, eclipsing the career high 19 points he set against Loyola earlier this month. Both Lasan Kromah and Tony Taylor had relatively quiet games and poor shooting nights, hampering the Colonials in the first half as they fell behind by double digits. Taylor was just four of 14 from the floor. Most damaging, however, for the Colonials was a sub 50% night from the free throw line. Missed free throws inhibited the comeback attempt in the second half as GWU finished just eight of 17 from the charity stripe.

GW is now 4-7 and will enjoy the holiday weekend off before hosting UAB at home next week when they will try to get their first win in more than a month.
