Old Dominion Vs. Georgia Southern Final Score: Monarchs Fall, 55-48

The Old Dominion Monarchs entered the second round of the FCS Playoffs hoping to advance against the Georgia Southern Eagles, but just couldn't score enough points. Through the first half, the teams went back and forth trading touchdowns, taking a 28-28 tie into halftime. Monarchs quarterback Taylor Heinicke threw three touchdown passes in the first half.

The second half however was troublesome for the Monarchs as the Eagles were able to score back to back touchdowns, which proved to be all the lead they needed. Old Dominion scored a touchdown with just 39 seconds left to make the score look a bit better, but the offense couldn't keep up and the defense couldn't get a stop in the second half.

Heinicke ended the day throwing for 341 yards and five touchdown passes, adding another 75 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Eagles running back Dominique Swope exploded for 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Georgia Southern advances to the next round of the playoffs.
