Four days ago, the Buffalo Sabres handed the Washington Capitals yet another humiliating defeat. Luckily for the Caps, they play on ice and revenge is a dish best served cold.
After a convincing win over the New York Rangers Wednesday, Washington will set its sights on Buffalo and look for a modicum of revenge Friday at Verizon Center in the third of four meetings this season.
Monday, the Sabres scored four unanswered goals in the first period en route to a 4-2 win. It was the second loss of the season for the Caps in Buffalo; they lost 5-1 November 26 in what ultimately became Bruce Boudreau's final game as head coach. In both games, the Sabres were missing several key regulars.
Washington hopes that things turn around Friday as they continue to battle Buffalo in the Eastern Conference. The Caps are one point ahead of the Sabres in the race for the final playoff spot in the East.
