Fresh off a Wednesday win over previously undefeated Louisville, the 12th-ranked Georgetown Hoyas (11-1, 1-0) welcome the Providence Friars (11-3, 0-1) to the Verizon Center Saturday afternoon in their Big East home opener.
The Hoyas 71-68 defeat of Louisville was their ninth win in a row, the longest Georgetown winning streak since 2007. Hoyas sophomore point guard Markel Starks shined against the Cardinals, making all four of his three point attempts, finishing with a career-high 20 points.
Providence has dropped 16 straight conference road games, and has lost five in a row to Georgetown. The last Friars win over the Hoyas was a 68-65 victory in 2005.
