For the ninth consecutive year, ESPN has organized a Bracket Busters event that will feature a wide variety of college teams hoping to make the NCAA Tournament.
This year, 114 teams are participating from 14 different conferences. 57 games over the three-day weekend will pit teams against each other outside of conference play. ESPN2 and ESPNU will be carrying 11 different games this year. This means that this may be your only chance to see tournament hopefuls like Long Beach State, Iona, and Kent State on national TV.
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams kicked off the Bracket Buster even last night with a thrilling (but not quite shocking) victory over the Wichita State Shockers. VCU's Joey Rodriguez made two free throws in the final second of play to give the Rams a 68-67 win.
The George Mason Patriots, a veteran Bracket Buster competitor, will face the Northern Iowa Panthers tonight at 7:00 PM on ESPN2. Following that game, viewers will get a chance to see the No. 21 Utah State Aggies take on the St. Mary's Gaels of California.
A third local team will be featured in the event tomorrow. The 21-6 Old Dominion Monarchs will take on the Cleveland State Vikings at 1:00 on ESPN2.
