Tonight will be a special night for the Maryland Terrapins, even if their NCAA Tournament chances have been all but crushed.
The Terps will have two special ceremonies tonight when they face the N.C. State Wolfpack. First, they will honor former guard Greivis Vasquez, with his jersey being risen to the rafters, joining the other greats in Maryland hoops history.
Next, the Terps will honor the tenth anniversary of their very first Final Four team from 2001. Familiar faces such as Juan Dixon, Taj Holden and Chris WIlcox are scheduled to take part in the ceremonies.
As for the current team, they know they are not in a good place right now. They head into this game 5-6 in a weak ACC, and after a crushing road loss to Virginia Tech, know that it will take a lot to earn an NCAA Tournament bid. If they are to do so, they will have to find some consistent production from their lackluster senior class. Dino Gregory has been a solid contributor this year, but it will be up to fellow seniors Cliff Tucker and Adrian Bowie to start showing up more consistently if the Terps are to start an improbable run to a tournament appearance.
