Registration begins at noon Wednesday for the 36th Marine Corps Marathon. Click here for the Marine Corps Marathon website where you can register for the race.
It will be the 36th running of the marathon, and it will be held on Oct. 30. Today seems like a weird day, right? According to Cindy Boren of the Washington Post, there is a good reason for that.
(If you're wondering why today is the entry day, it's the anniversary of the flag raisings during World War II's Battle of Iwo Jima.)
Makes sense. The race starts in Arlington, and heads as far north as the National Mall before returning to the other side of the river. Last year it was won by Jacob Bradosky, a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force, who finished with a time of 2:32:30.
We'll be updating this StoryStream right up until, and through, the race in October with all the important news and information you need to know.
