Chris Wright Suffers Broken Hand Injury, Damaging Georgetown's NCAA Title Hopes

The Georgetown Hoyas lost at home to Cincinnati on Wednesday night, but they suffered what may be a much more devastating loss midway through the second half. Senior point guard Chris Wright, described as the heart and soul of the team by many, has a broken hand injury and his timetable is unknown, according to coach John Thompson III.

It's not clear exactly which play led to the injury. Wright was holding his wrist after a turnover early in the second half, coming out for good when he couldn't even catch a pass just before the 16-minute TV timeout. It also remains unclear exactly where on his left hand he is hurting.

Either way, it's a potentially devastating blow to the Hoyas, who were just starting to put things together to go on a deep run in March. Selection Sunday is just over two and a half weeks away, and the first round of the NCAA Tournament is three weeks away.
