Morgan State has made it back to the MEAC Championship game for the third straight season. The Bears upset top-seeded Bethune-Cookman in Friday's semifinals, 61-48, behind 22 points off the bench from Kevin Thompson. They will face No. 2 seed Hampton, who routed Norfolk State, 85-61, in the other semifinal.
Morgan State is looking to secure its third straight MEAC title after winning the tournament in 2008/09 and 2009/10. This year's team was weaker than the last two clubs that won it. Todd Bozeman's squad was just 15-13 entering the 2011 MEAC Tournament, and had the daunting task of facing Bethune-Cookman in the semifinals. But Bozeman's squad still got the job done, and will now face a Hampton squad that is playing as well as any team in the league.
The game will take place at 2 p.m. on ESPN. A berth in the NCAA Tournament is on the line in this one.
