2011 NCAA Tournament: Georgetown Receives 6 Seed, Will Play Either USC Or VCU In First Round

The Georgetown Hoyas have received a No. 6 seed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The 2011 NCAA bracket was just revealed on the Selection Sunday show on CBS, and the Hoyas will be in the Southwest Region region. They will play either USC or Virginia Commonwealth.

The Georgetown basketball team closed the season with four straight losses after Chris Wright's hand injury, all in blowout fashion. Prior to those losses, the Hoyas were on their way to an even higher seed. The good news, though, is that Wright has been cleared to play in the NCAA Tournament, which should give the Hoyas a boost. Nevertheless, the selection committee punished the Hoyas with their seed.

The Hoyas will be looking for a better result in the NCAA Tournament than they had last season, when they earned a No. 3 seed, but fell meekly to No. 14 seed Ohio in the first round.
