Capitals Vs. Senators: Ottawa Leads 1-0 After Colin Greening Scrum Goal

This game between the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators remains very even. The only significant difference is that the Senators have managed to squeeze the puck past Semyon Varlamov, but the Capitals have not yet managed to figure out Craig Anderson. The Senators lead 1-0 after two periods.

The lone goal came for Ottawa as Colin Greening finished off a shot from Jason Spezza during a scrum with Varlamov within the Washington crease. The goal had to be reviewed by the officials, but it was upheld, and remains the only mark on the scoreboard so far tonight.

The Capitals certainly weren't without their chances in this period though. Anderson stoned Alexander Semin cold on a 1v1 breakaway after the forward emerged from the penalty box. Semin had another chance on a Washington power play later in the half, as did Brooks Laich.

The Capitals haven't finished a single chance yet tonight, but they've got 20 more minutes to keep trying.
