If you like weekend hoops featuring D.C. area teams, then today is your day. Here's a look at today's games from the regions basketball squads:
Schedule of Saturday's games:
CAA Tournament: George Mason vs. Georgia State, 12pm on TCN (Channel 8) and ESPN3.com: The Patriots are the hottest team in town (college or pro), and after winning the CAA regular season title, they are also looking to add an outright CAA championship as well by winning their conference tournament. Today's game is the Patriots' first in this tournament, as they earned a bye due to their top seed. Mason is already looking pretty good for Selection Sunday, but winning the CAA tournament could go a long way in improving their seeding for the NCAA tourney.
Georgetown Hoyas at Cincinnati Bearcats, 2pm on MASN: The Hoyas have had a week to cool off after their tough home loss to Syracuse on Senior Day. Today they ra pup their regular season schedule by traveling to face the Bearcats in a critical BIg East match up, as both the Hoyas and Bearcats sit at 10-7 in the conference.
More after the jump
Virginia Cavaliers at Maryland Terrapins, 2pm on FOX 5: The only thing that's meaningful about this game is that it will be Senior Day for Adrian Bowie, Cliff Tucker, and Dino Gregory. Other than that, the Terps know that the only way to get to the big dance is to win the ACC tournament, which starts next Thursday.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Washington Wizards, 7pm on Comcast Sportsnet: The 15-45 Wizards return home to take on the T-Wolves, with coach Flip Saunders expected to return today after dealing with the death of his mother. Other than that, it's two 15 win teams going at it. Fun stuff.
