Maryland Vs. Virginia: Terps Close Out Regular Season Against Cavs On Senior Day

Saturday's game against the Virginia Cavaliers will mark the Maryland Terrapins' final game in the regular season, and will also mark the team's Senior Day, which will honor seniors Adrian Bowie, Cliff Tucker, and Dino Gregory.

But unless the Terps have an upcoming miracle in the ACC tournament, they have to look back on the regular season as a disappointment. Despite the outcome of today's game, they will likely end up on the outside of the bubble for the NCAA tournament selection committee.

There is a bit of irony today that the Terps will honor their seniors today, as one could argue that the lack of senior leadership may have cost this team this year. Dino Gregory continued to excel in his role, being a classic Gary Williams player of getting better each year. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Adrian Bowie and Cliff Tucker. They were inconsistent this season at a time when Maryland was looking for a secondary scoring option.

The Terps currently sit at 7-8 in the conference, and a win today will perhaps net them a better seed in the ACC tournament, though it's still likely any road to an improbable NCAA tournament bid will have to go through conference powerhouses North Carolina and Duke.
