MEAC Tournament 2011: South Carolina St., Maryland Eastern Shore Advance

The 2011 MEAC Conference Tournament got underway yesterday, but in an interesting scheduling, let's call it a situation, only two first round games were played on the first day of action. Let's recap.

Maryland Eastern Shore beats Florida A&M 87-85 in 2OT:

Sometimes a game can be boring and go into overtime, but that wasn't the case with this one. This had all the drama and suspense you would expect from the first round of a small, not really even mid-major conference tournament. Hillary Haley made a three-pointer with 17 seconds left in the first overtime to send the game into a sixth frame, and his layup with just over a minute left in the second overtime put Maryland Eastern Shore ahead for good.Maryland Eastern Shore will play Hampton today.

South Carolina St. beats Delaware St. 64-59:

South Carolina St. was led by Darnell Porter and his 15 points. he was the only starter in double figures, but a balanced scoring effort from everyone who logged minutes were enough for a win.South Carolina St. will play top seed Bethune-Cookman today.
