WNBA Draft 2011: Washington Mystics Select Victoria Dunlap In First Round

The 2011 WNBA Draft is taking place on Monday, and the Washington Mystics have already made their first selection. The team has picked Victoria Dunlap with the No. 11 selection in the draft.

Dunlap is a 6'1'' forward from the University of Kentucky, and she is expected to provide depth on what has become a deep frontline, led by Crystal Langhorne, Monique Currie, Marisa Coleman and newcomer Nicky Anosike. A third-team all-America selection last season, Anosike was also the SEC Player of the Year after averaging 17 points, 8.7 rebounds, three steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

This is just the start of what is expected to be a busy day for the Mystics. Point guard Lindsay Harding, an all-star selection last season, is expected to be traded because the team cannot agree on a long-term contract extension, according to Kathy Orton of the Washington Post. It's possible Dunlap will end up being moved with Harding, who desires to play for the Atlanta Dream.
