VCU Fans Also Know How To Riot

Despite VCU's bitter defeat to Butler last night, they still knew how to take to the streets as if they had won.

Roudy crowds gathered in the streets of Richmond and were quite boisterous. They were heard screaming obscenities about Butler (as well as the police) while equipped with torches. The riot police had to be on hand to restore order and make sure no body was hurt. That certainly sounds familiar to most local folks.

As a Maryland alum, I certainly am no stranger to these types of riots, but those are usually reserved for huge victories. It is quite interesting to see how the frustration of a dream run ending can really fire up (no pun intended) a fanbase such as VCU's.

In a way, it's good to see that "Ram Nation" has some real passionate fans as well, though rioting because of a loss isn't exactly to way to go (not that I support rioting in general).

Maybe Shaka can recapture the magic next year and have Ram Nation engage in a victorious celebration, rather than one after a losing effort.
