The work of the Washington Redskins in the 2011 NFL Draft should dominate the television viewing for the afternoon, and come late afternoon it will be time to focus on the hometown nine, as the Nationals take on the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants at Nats Park. And let's not forget the NHL Playoffs, with two games to be played today as DC anxiously awaits a Caps Game 2 redemption win. Your viewing schedule:
2011 NFL Draft, fourth - seventh rounds: The Redskins have TEN picks today. Don't even think of leaving the home before dinner time. The Skins picks throughout the day: 4th: 127, 5th: 144, 5th: 146, 5th: 152, 5th: 155, 6th: 177, 7th: 213, 7th: 217, 7th: 224, 7th: 253. (12 p.m., ESPN, NFL Network)
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Boston Bruins, Game 1: One year after the Bruins pulled a choke job for the ages, losing a 3-0 lead in Game 7 and a 3-0 lead in the series to the Flyers, the two teams meet up in the second round of the 2011 NHL Playoffs. I'd say this series might have fire to it. (3 p.m. The NHL has such a horrendous TV deal. This might be on NBC, though the guide indicates possible informercial fun at 3 p.m.)
Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators, Game 2: The Predators, after finally winning a first round series for the first time in franchise history, came out flat in Game 1, losing to the Canucks 1-0 and managing only eleven shots against Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo in the first two periods. Nashville will need to shake off the cobwebs and come out firing tonight in order to even the series. (9 p.m., Versus)
Giants vs. Nationals: John Lannan looks to hurl the Nationals to their third straight victory, and match the previous mound performances of Livan Hernandez and Jason Marquis. San Francisco sends lefty Jonathan Sanchez to the hill, looking to avenge teammate Tim Lincecum's loss Friday night. (4:05 p.m., MASN)
