Nehro Will Not Race In 2011 Preakness Stakes

After a week of uncertainty, Nehro, the runner-up in the 2011 Kentucky Derby, will not race in the 2011 Preakness Stakes. Trainer Ahmed Zayat told reporters Tuesday morning that Nehro has simply been too overworked recently to risk taking part at Pimlico.

Nehro has endured a busy schedule this spring, and owner Ahmed Zayat says he doesn't want to risk running the horse in Saturday's second leg of the Triple Crown.

Had Nehro been in the field, it would have been its fourth race in eight weeks, which is a lot for a three-year old. Prior to the Kentucky Derby, Nehro had raced in the Louisiana Derby on March 26 and the Arkansas Derby on April 16.
