Preakness Stakes 2011 Field: Dialed In Could Win $6.1 Million Purse At Preakness

Dialed In is one of the favorites to win the 2011 Preakness Stakes, despite finishing eighth in the 2011 Kentucky Derby. But when he lines up on Saturday, he'll have much more at stake than any other horse in the field. According to Jerry Bossert of the New York Daily News, Dialed In could win $6.1 million if he wins the Preakness this weekend, nearly ten times as much as any other horse in the field.

The 3-year-old colt is in this unique position after winning both the Holy Bull Stakes and the Florida Derby earlier this year at Gulfstream Park, another Stronach track, thus qualifying for the extra dough if he wins the Preakness.

Apparently, if he wins a few races at tracks that are part of the same ownership group, he gets an enormous Preakness payout. That isn't the worst way to make a living.I know the horse isn't going to know about that bonus, so he won't be running any harder than he would of, but I bet the jockey gets a little bit more familiar with the whip.
