Nationals Vs. Orioles: Washington Looks For Offense In Interleague Showdown

The Washington Nationals will take on the Baltimore Orioles in the first of several interleague games in the 2011 season on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The two teams will square off six times in interleague play this season, and both enter this game looking to overcome recent struggles.

The Nationals fell 1-0 to the New York Mets on Thursday afternoon in a frustrating game that saw them continue their 18+ inning scoreless streak. The game also featured a blown call in the ninth inning, which eventually led to general manager Mike Rizzo getting investigated by Major League Baseball for confronting the umpire. The Orioles, meanwhile, have lost three in a row, including a 13-2 shellacking at the hands of the New York Yankees on Thursday night.

Jason Marquis gets the call on the mound for the Nationals, as he looks to continue his strong 2011 season. He'll square off against Jake Arietta of the Orioles, who has won his last four decisions. The Nationals will play with a designated hitter per American League rules, and that will be Matt Stairs.

Here is the full Nationals' lineup:

  1. Roger Bernadina (CF)
  2. Ian Desmond (SS)
  3. Laynce Nix (LF)
  4. Jayson Werth (RF)
  5. Matt Stairs (DH)
  6. Adam LaRoche (1B)
  7. Wilson Ramos (C)
  8. Danny Espinosa (2B)
  9. Jerry Hairston Jr. (3B)
