Preakness Stakes 2011 Payouts: Shackleford, Animal Kingdom, Astrology

The results of the Preakness itself are nice, but if the horse that wins won't be running for a Triple Crown in two weeks, it's only kind of interesting. The far more important storyline, if you ask me at least, is the payouts for the winning horses. Here are the betting payouts, courtesy of SB Nation.

SHACKLEFORD  $27.20     $10.20    $6.80

ANIMAL KINGDOM                  $4.20    $3.60

ASTROLOGY                                          $8.00

$2 EXACTA  $114.80

$2 TRIFECTA $1,401.80

$2 SUPERFECTA  $6,212.60

Every time I see the results of betting like this I look at the superfecta and think to myself, "well there's no reason why I couldn't have done that." When in actuality there are, literally, dozens of reasons why it would be a bad idea for me to try. But if you tried and were successful, good on you.
