Penn State's Ed DeChellis Hired As New Navy Basketball Coach, According To Report

Navy basketball has somehow managed to grab a new head coach from a power conference. ESPN's Andy Katz is reporting that the school is set to hire Ed DeChellis of Penn State to be its next head coach.

DeChellis will replace Billy Lange, who left after seven years to become an assistant coach at Villanova. It's pretty surprising that DeChellis would leave Penn State now. He had been under pressure for several years, but led the Nittany Lions to an NIT title in 2009 and an NCAA Tournament in 2011. It seemed like things were looking up for him at Penn State. Alas, they clearly weren't.

DeChellis will enter one of the most difficult jobs in the country because of the admissions standards and all the work the players must do to serve. Then again, Penn State was a difficult job too because it was such a football school, so DeChellis will be up to the challenge.
