2011 Military Bowl Will Be Played December 28 At 4:30 P.M.

The 2011 Military Bowl date and schedule has been announced, and it will be on December 28 at 4:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium, according to Patrick Stevens of the Washington Times. December 28, 2011 is a Wednesday. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

The game will feature Navy (if bowl eligible) against the No. 8 selection from the ACC. Last season, the game featured the ACC's No. 8 team against the No. 6 team from Conference USA. Maryland ended up routing East Carolina in Ralph Friedgen's final game.

The Military Bowl has been in existence since 2008. In the inaugural edition of the game, Wake Forest, the ACC's ninth-place team, defeated Navy, 29-19. In 2009, Army was supposed to be in the game, but was not bowl-eligible, and the ACC didn't have enough bowl-eligible teams either. UCLA and Temple were eventually picked to play in the game, with UCLA winning, 30-21.
