MLB Trade Rumors: Ivan Rodriguez A Trade Option For San Francisco Giants, According To Report

The 2011 MLB Trade Deadline is still two solid months away, but as injuries occur and needs arise, we can expect some trades to start happening in the coming weeks. The first big injury of the season that needs immediate plugging is catcher for the San Fransisco Giants, after Buster Posey hurt his left ankle the other night and limped off the field. According to an early report, the Giants have already asked the Nationals about Pudge Rodriguez.

This is a trade that makes a ton of sense. As we mentioned, the Giants need a catcher really badly, and thanks to the emergence of Wilson Ramos, Pudge has been made kind of redundant in Washington. And the Nationals have great organizational depth at the catcher position, so they can afford to lose their backup as well. If the Nationals can get something of value for Pudge, and send him to a a much better situation in San Fransisco, it has to be considered.

We'll be keeping track of this and all the trades the Nationals might make this season in this thread. But check out Federal Baseball for more on the Nationals.
