Nationals Place Tom Gorzelanny On 15-Day DL

According to a Press Release from the Washington Nationals, the Nats placed southpaw pitcher Tom Gorzelanny on the 15-Day disabled list with left elbow inflammation after last night's 2-1 walk-off win over the San Diego Padres.

The Washington Nationals placed left-handed pitcher Tom Gorzelanny (left elbow inflammation) on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 24. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

The 28-year old pitcher is 2-4 with a 4.25 ERA in nine starts this season. Gorzolanny's last start was May 23rd against the Milwaukee Brewers where he was lit up for six runs on eight hits over five-innings of work. He gave up three home runs during the game and currently leads Washington pitchers in home runs given up with 11.

According to a tweet from Mark Zuckerman, pitcher Yunesky Maya will most likely be called up Sunday from Syracuse. He also reports that Syracuse reliever Collin Balester is also at Nationals Park Saturday and available to pitch from the bullpen.
