Maryland Basketball, Georgetown Discussing Home And Home Series, Kevin Anderson Says

Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson has made some splashes since taking over for Debbie Yow just about a year ago. His latest, might be a rekindling of the rivalry between the Terps and Georgetown, according to Patrick Stevens at the Washington Times. The rivalry makes a ton of sense because of how close the two teams are to one another and their relative competitiveness. According to Stevens, Anderson is looking to schedule a home-and-home series with the Hoyas.

"Lee Reed, the athletic director at Georgetown, is a very good friend of mine," Anderson said. "We’ve talked about renewing that series and doing a home-and-home series. We’re in a serious conversation now."

The two teams have only had one scheduled meeting in the last 31 years, which makes absolutely no sense. Those two teams have passionate fan bases, and they deserve to see their teams play against the best teams in the area. It will also help significantly in terms of local recruiting. As a Maryland alumnus, I would be thrilled if this ended up happening.
