Yet another local college basketball program will be searching for a new head coach. Billy Lange, the head man at Navy basketball for the past seven years, is leaving the program, according to FOX Sports' Jeff Goodman.
Lange is leaving to become an associate head coach with Jay Wright at Villanova, according to the report. That is where Lange was prior to accepting the Navy head coaching position prior to the 2004/05 season. Lange has gone an even 132-132 in seven years in Annapolis, never reaching the postseason and never finishing higher than second in the Patriot League. He inherited a team that was just 5-23 the year before and built it up to 19-11 and 8-6 in the Patriot League in 2007/08, but could never build any further. Navy has had losing seasons the past two years and has not finished higher than a tie for fourth in the conference.
Lange joins Gary Williams, Karl Hobbs and Jim Larranaga as D.C. college basketball coaches that have left their schools this season.
