Beware, coeds in brown flip flops and insane people waiting hours for cupcakes, Georgetown is about to be a new hole for 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Rickie Fowler. Well, to be more specific, the Georgetown Waterfront is about to be his new driving range, at least for one night. Red Bull is kicking off 2011 U.S. Open week by sponsoring an event called "Capital Drive" Saturday evening at 5pm. What the heck is it? As only a sponsor press release could describe:
↵↵↵On Saturday, June 11, 2011 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Rickie Fowler will attempt a shot with no sight line into a constructed island hole inside a fountain at the Georgetown Waterfront (with the Potomac River as a backdrop and winds swirling). It will be a test of precise shot making, while sharpening Fowler’s mental focus as he readies to play Congressional and the U.S. Open.
↵
OK, so Red Bull not only gives you wings (and an insanity defense), it also makes you a precise shot maker in urban environments? That really is quite a product.
↵If and when Fowler gets his shot remotely close to the hole, or he even unbelievably makes the shot, I really hope this guy steps out of the crowd to let him know "Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago."
