Video Evidence Rickie Fowler Aced The Makeshift Georgetown Waterfront Hole

Yesterday, right around this time, I was typing up a post about 2010 PGA Rookie of the Year Rickie Fowler heading to Georgetown's Waterfront as part of a Red Bull promotion, attempting to make a seemingly impossible shot created just for him in an urban environment. Well, courtesy of Chick Hernandez and the fine folks at CSNwashington.com, video proof after the jump of Fowler ACING the made-up hole at his Red Bull "Capital Drive" event Saturday evening.

Even if that green was created to funnel any shot back into the hole (which I'm pretty sure it was**), it's damn impressive, to me at least, that Fowler had no problem putting it so close to the pin, and frankly, making it look so easy. This is a kid after all who is only 88th on tour right now in greens in regulation. Overall in 2011, Fowler has two Top 10 finishes and seven Top 25 finishes in 14 events, missing the cut three times. He is currently 49th on the PGA Tour money list, earning just over $875K so far this year.

The USGA, showing a modicum of fashion sense, paired Fowler with Ian Poulter and Hunter Mahan this week at Congressional. This "best-dressed" threesome begins their 2011 U.S. Open Thursday at 1:57 P.M. from Hole #1.

**UPDATE: Chick has informed me my snark was unwarranted, and that the green was not rigged. Damn impressive Mr. Fowler, damn impressive.
