If top-seeded Virginia had really lost to upstart UC-Irvine in the Super Regional round of the 2011 NCAA Baseball Tournament, it would have probably been one of the biggest upsets in NCAA baseball history. The Cavaliers were one out away from doing so, trailing 2-1 with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth inning. Four batters later, Chris Taylor hit this two-run single to give Virginia a 3-2 win.
↵My, how things change. Virginia got to this point by scratching out a single up the middle, seeing a ground ball rocket off the pitcher and working a four-out walk. That brought Taylor to the plate, and he delivered with the base hit shown above. It was Taylor's way of redeeming himself, as he committed an error in the top of the ninth inning that allowed UC-Irvine to take the lead. Sports always has a funny way of giving second chances, and Taylor just so happened to take his.
