College World Series 2011 Bracket Update: North Carolina Eliminates Texas, Florida-Vanderbilt Suspended

There were two games on the schedule for the 2011 College World Series last night, and because of rain, we only got through about one and a half of them.

The game that was completed was North Carolina against Texas. Runs were at a premium this game, particularly for the Texas Longhorns, who found it difficult to get anything going against North Carolina freshman Kent Emanuel. Emanuel went the full nine innings, sprinkling just four hits and zero runs. His offense didn't give him a ton of support (three runs) but the way he was pitching, he didn't really need that much. The loss was Texas' second of the tournament, which means that they are now out of the tournament.

The other game that was scheduled to be played on Monday night was a matchup of SEC Conference foes in Florida and Vanderbilt. Florida had gotten the best of Vandy this season, and that trend appeared to be continuing on Monday, before rain set in and suspended play. At the time of the delay in the sixth inning, Florida had a 3-1 lead.
