NCAA Baseball Tournament 2011: Virginia Crushes St. John's 10-2, Advances To Regional Championship

The University of Virginia baseball team is one win away from the 2011 NCAA Baseball Super Regionals. Virginia (51-9) jumped on St. John's (36-21) early, with Stephen Proscia hitting a two run bomb in the top of the first, and the Cavaliers cruised to a 10-2 win over the Red Storm. Virginia will play at 6pm Sunday, against the winner of the loser's bracket game between East Carolina and St. Johns (being played at 1pm).

Danny Hultzen was the star of the game for UVA, as he has been all season long. On the mound, Hultzen threw seven strong innings, striking out 12 St. John's batters and allowing only three hits and one earned run. He also chipped in at the plate, going two for three with one run batted in. Proscia, the first inning star, finished the game three for five, driving in three and also scoring three times.

A win for Virginia in Sunday's contest sends them on to the Super Regionals. If the Cavaliers lose, they will play a winner-take-all game on Monday at Davenport Field.
