The Washington Nationals will take on the San Francisco Giants in a matinee game on Wednesday, the final game of a three-game series. The two teams have split the first two games, and now, the Nationals will look for a series victory. They will have to do it without Jayson Werth once again, as the Nationals' right fielder will sit out his second straight game after rolling his ankle on Monday.
Werth was originally scheduled to be in the lineup and hit third, but was scratched at the last minute. He does not think the injury is serious and believes he'll be back to normal when the Nationals next play. Via Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post:
"I could probably play today, but I wouldn't be able to run too well," Werth said. "One more day, I'll be fine."
Yunesky Maya will be on the mound for the Nationals looking for his first career win. Matt Cain will oppose him for the Giants. Here is the Nationals' lineup:
- Roger Bernadina (LF)
- Ian Desmond (SS)
- Laynce Nix (LF)
- Michael Morse (1B)
- Wilson Ramos (C)
- Danny Espinosa (2B)
- Rick Ankiel (CF)
- Alex Cora (3B)
- Yunesky Maya (P)
