As the abnormally long title of this post should indicate, yep, there's a lot to watch on TV today. Golf across the pond, the Nationals looking to creep above the .500 mark again, and of course our women's national soccer team looking to win the FIFA World Cup. What to watch and when...
↵Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves: With a 5-2 win Saturday evening, the Nats returned to .500 on the year, at 47-47. Sunday in Atlanta they will need to defeat Braves young ace Jair Jurrjens (1.87 ERA) if they hope to once again nudge above that marker of mediocrity. Jurrjens is seeking his NL-leading 13th win. ↵2011 British Open, Final Round: Quick, turn on the TV now if you're not already watching, we've got a doozy brewing in the Open Championship. Phil Mickelson has stormed up the leaderboard, and is now neck-and-neck with Darren Clarke. American Dustin Johnson still lurks as well, and after a relatively calm morning, the weather has begun to turn. Today might be an epic final round. (In Progress, ESPN)
↵2011 Women's World Cup Final, United States vs. Japan: Team USA looks to duplicate the magic of 1999 and take home the FIFA World Cup, but will need to beat surprise finalist Japan to do so. Hope Solo and her US teammates hope to mimic the performance that garnered them a 3-1 win over France in the semifinals. I'm no soccer expert, but Team USA's distinct height advantage could be a huger factor today on set pieces (I'm looking right at you Abby Wambach). (2:45 P.M. Kickoff, ESPN)
