October 1 will be a milestone in Washington D.C., as the UFC will hold its first event in Washington D.C. proper at the Verizon Center with "UFC On Versus 6." The UFC has been to the D.C. area (specifically, the Patriot Center), but this is the first time an event will take place within the city boundaries.
UFC commissioner Dana White announced that the headline fight will see UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz defend his title against challenger Demetrious Johnson. The fight will be broadcasted free and live on Versus, the first time this has happened since 2007, when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson fought Dan Henderson at UFC 75.
According to SBNation.com's Luke Thomas, the undercards are as follows.
Charlie Brenneman vs. Anthony Johnson
Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman
Paul Sass vs. Michael Johnson
Tickets for events on Versus are less expensive because the fights are not on pay-per-view, so it will be interesting to see the turnout.
