Vonnie Holliday Says Albert Haynesworth May Stay With Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins defensive end Vonnie Holliday appeared on The Mike Wise Show With Holden Kushner on 106.7 The Fan on Tuesday to talk about a variety of issues, including the ongoing saga between Albert Haynesworth and Mike Shanahan.

Holliday indicated that Haynesworth could very well start the season with the Redskins:

"I remember having a conversation with coach Shanahan at the end of last year, and him being a hard-nosed, old-school coach, I believe him. If he doesn't get a significant trade for Big Al, I think Big Al is going to be there."

Hopefully tough talk like that scares another team into coughing up a decent draft pick in exchange for "Big Al," but if not he might be wearing burgundy and gold.

Here's Holliday's take on playing with Haynesworth another year:

"I hope that, if he's going to be there, that Albert will refocus some of that anger and frustration into playing and going down the football field. I'm hoping that throughout this whole process, he's grown. I know he's been frustrated by a lot of things as of late. I don't know how it's going to play out. After Haslett went on the radio in St. Louis and said what he said stirring the pot some more, it's going to be interesting. I just hope we can avoid the soap opera playing out throughout the course of the year like the beginning of last year and how it kind of played out over the whole year. That's a distraction and it doesn't help us with winning games."
