Mets Vs. Nationals: Yunesky Maya Steps In As Nationals Look To Stop Losing Skid

It's been a wild day for the Washington Nationals, who have already made two deals as we get closer to the MLB trade deadline. One of those trades involved Jason Marquis, who was scheduled to start for the Nationals against the New York Mets on Saturday night. So much for that.

As Marquis was being informed of the trade, the Nationals asked Yunesky Maya to come up from AAA-Syracuse in case something happened. Something did happen, so Maya will get the spot start hoping to stop a six-game losing streak for his home team.

Maya has been awful in his brief MLB career so far, with zero wins and a 6.31 career ERA. But he was scheduled to start in AAA on Saturday night, and the Nationals don't want to mess up their rotation.

Here is the Nationals' lineup, complete with yet another new leadoff hitter.

  1. Rick Ankiel (CF)
  2. Ian Desmond (SS)
  3. Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
  4. Michael Morse (1B)
  5. Jayson Werth (RF)
  6. Danny Espinosa (2B)
  7. Jonny Gomes (LF)
  8. Wilson Ramos (C)
  9. Yunesky Maya (P)
