Ivan Rodriguez was supposed to start against the Cubs last night, but was scratched from the lineup before the game after straining his oblique in warmups. According to Steven Miller of MLB.com, Pudge and the team will wait to see how he feels on Thursday before making a decision about whether or not he will be placed on the DL.
"I never experienced this type of injury, so we'll see what happens tomorrow," Rodriguez said. "If tomorrow's no better, we need a catcher, so let's see what happens."
Nationals manager Davey Johnson echoed some of Pudge's sentiments.
"We're going to look at him again tomorrow," Johnson said. "He obviously doesn't want to be down and we don't want him on the DL, so we'll have to sit down with the doctors and see what the recovery time is going to be."
We'll be keeping track of Pudge's injury, and his potential trip to the DL, in this stream. For more on the Nats, head over to Federal Baseball.
