Legg Mason Tennis Classic: Mardy Fish Withdraws, According To Report

The 2011 Legg Mason Tennis Classic will be without much American starpower. Mardy Fish, the surging American player who was seeded second, has joined Andy Roddick on the sidelines, according to the Associated Press' Howard Fendrich. Fish had a bruised right heel and clearly didn't want to stress it after losing in the finals at ATP Los Angeles on Sunday.

Fish's departure is good fortune for lucky loser Wayne Odesnik, who will take his place and his bye in the draw. Odesnik was one of the highest seeds in qualifying, but lost to Rajeev Ram over the weekend. He also unleashed an embarrassing sequence of handshakes and non-handshakes after losing the match. Now, he'll be rewarded for it.

Odesnik will face the winner of Monday's match between Philipp Petzschner and Radek Stepanek in the second round on Tuesday.
