The Chicago Cubs have committed two errors on Wednesday night and on one of them the Washington Nationals were able to capitalize and turn it into a run, but that has been it for Washington as they trail the Cubs 2-1 in the sixth.
With two out and Ryan Zimmerman on first, first baseman Michael Morse hit a tough ball to shortstop Starlin Castro who tried to make a throw to second to get Zimmerman, but the throw was off course and the ball rolled into right field after Zimmerman took a hard slide into second. The All-Star third baseman was then instantly on his feet and running and was able to make it home on the errant throw.
However, that is all the Nationals have managed so far Wednesday.
Starter Ross Detwiler has pitched five innings and given up three runs on seven hits. Geovanny Soto and Reed Johnson have tagged solo home runs off Detwiler while former National Alfonso Soriano hit a RBI double.
