The Washington Redskins were mostly all smiles after their 16-7 NFL preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at FedEx Field on Friday, but there was some concerning news to report when it came to tight end Chris Cooley. Cooley did not play in Friday's game, and afterwards, coach Mike Shanahan indicated he may not play much at all this preseason.
Via Rick Maese of the Washington Post:
Tight end Chris Cooley will miss at least the next couple of weeks with a sore knee, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Friday night.
"Keep our fingers crossed that he'll be back. When it will be, I can't tell you for sure," Shanahan said.
Shanahan also said that Cooley has already had the knee drained a couple times. Cooley and others have said that the injury isn't serious, but if he's missing multiple weeks, it's worth at least wondering what is going on with him leading into the season.
