Washington Redskins Training Camp: John Beck To Start Friday Vs. Colts, Mike Shanahan Says

Rex Grossman got his chance to shine for the Washington Redskins in their first preseason game. Now, it's John Beck's turn. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said that Beck will be the team's starter when the Redskins take on the Indianapolis Colts in their second preseason game on Friday.

Beck had a groin injury last week, allowing Grossman the chance to start. Grossman took advantage with a solid performance against the Steelers, completing 19 of 26 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown. However, with Beck back healthy, he will get a chance to show what he can do.

There was speculation about whether the QB battle was a fair fight after Jason Reid's column in the Washington Post suggested the job was Beck's to lose. Shanahan didn't comment on that. He did, however, initially say "you know me better than that," when asked if Beck would start Friday before revealing that he would, according to SB Nation D.C.'s Redskins reporter Daniel Shiferaw.
