Nick Young Out of Goodman Vs. Drew Game After Drew MVP Snub

UPDATE: Young's representatives say he is still in the game. For more on the Goodman/Drew showdown, visit this StoryStream.

Civic pride was a big reason Nick Young was going to represent his hometown Drew League when the best of L.A. faces the the District's Goodman League. Now it seems that same sense of pride will keep Young out of the game.

For Washington Wizards fans, there's a golden nugget buried at the bottom of Marc Spears' report that Kobe Bryant is considering an appearance in the Goodman League vs. Drew League game on Aug. 20. The of-course-this-happened details after the jump.

Young is upset about not being named MVP of the Drew League. That honor was given to Long Beach State senior guard Casper Ware, who was voted in by the fans via the Internet.

This wouldn't be the first time the artist F.K.A. Swaggy P has had beef with a summer rec league. We have previously chronicled his issues with the Goodman League. Young doesn't like the outdoor court, and hasn't been back since he was forced into an early run in 100+ degree heat during his rookie season with the Wizards.

His replacement is 2011 NBA Draft No. 2 pick Derrick Williams, which adds some national star power to the game. Still, it's a disappointment for locals, who are no doubt wanted to see Young in the game -- either to root for the local NBA talent to light it up or get his comeuppance for blasphemous statements made against the Goodman League.
