Led by Kevin Durant, the Goodman League edged the Drew League, 135-134, in a summer exhibition called "Capital Punishment" at Trinity University in Washington D.C. It was an entertaining game and a fun time was had by all. That is, except for many of the Drew League players after the game, who were still smarting over this foul call in the closing seconds.
That's Kevin Durant taking it hard to Oklahoma City Thunder teammate James Harden, like he did all game. That's Harden doing his best to slide over to draw the charge. That's a referee giving Durant the benefit of the doubt, allowing him to head to the free-throw line to hit the two foul shots that gave the Goodman League the one-point win.
Afterwards, Harden and Durant had the following Twitter exchange:
LoL did we get cheated??
NOOOO dont be like that...we gonna come to LA and get no calls so i dont matter RT @JHarden13: LoL did we get cheated??
@KDTrey5 hahha me and u both know that was a charge!
Drew League commissioner Dino Smiley also got in on the act, saying this afterwards, via ESPN's Beckley Mason.
Said Smiley after the loss: "We came out here on the East Coast. They've got 99 percent of the crowd, 100 percent of the referees."
Yeah, I can't wait for the rematch.
